About Ravencoin Mining
Ravencoin (RVN) launched in January 2018 as a fork of Bitcoin focused on asset transfer. It mined on X16R until the May 2020 hard fork, then moved to KawPow — a ProgPoW variant that generates a different random sequence of maths operations for every block and pairs it with an Ethash-style DAG. Rebuilding that program each block makes ASICs economically impractical.
KawPow hash rates are lower than Ethash because every block runs a different randomly generated program. The RTX 3080 achieves approximately 46 Mh/s on KawPow, compared to ~98 Mh/s on Etchash.
